Nurse Sarah Berson joined the Garza team in 2023. Her first career was in education, and she was a teacher in several different roles including English as a Foreign Language and as a Peace Corps volunteer in Ukraine. Also, taught MS Science and English here in Austin. She became a nurse in 2019 and worked in the hospital setting in the Medical Intensive Care Unit, and then for the University of Texas's School of Medicine clinics. Her background in both education and nursing makes her well-suited for the school nurse role. She is passionate about addressing student health concerns and also providing wellness education overall. 

 

Sarah has lived in Austin for ten years and has two small children. She loves to be outside, try new baking recipes, and sew. Come say, "Hi", in her office or you might find her out with the chickens!
