It is an incredible honor to serve as the principal of Garza Independence High School. With more than 20 years in education, I have had the privilege of serving as a teacher, literacy specialist, assistant principal, principal, and district leader. Each role has strengthened my belief that relationships are the foundation of meaningful learning and student success.

From the moment I stepped onto campus, I could feel what makes Garza so special, a community built on compassion, belonging, and an unwavering belief that every student deserves the opportunity to succeed. My commitment is to listen, learn, and work alongside our students, staff, families, and community as we continue to build on the incredible work that has made Garza a place of hope and opportunity. Together, we will continue to create an environment where every student feels known, valued, and empowered to reach their goals.

Whether you're a current student, family member, alumnus, or community partner, welcome to Garza. I look forward to getting to know you and working together to support our students as they write the next chapter of their story.

I grew up in Southern California desert near the borders of Mexico and Arizona before moving to Texas to attend Texas Lutheran University, where I played collegiate softball. My educational career began at Reagan High School, now Northeast Early College High School, where I proudly served for nearly 20 years in a variety of roles—from administrative support to the classroom and eventually into campus leadership. I am honored to serve the staff, students, and community of Garza Independence High School as Assistant Principal.

Outside of school, I am a proud parent of four children, and most weekends are spent cheering them on at their sporting events. I enjoy reading, traveling—especially to destinations with a beach—and spending quality time with family and friends.

Office Hours: 8:30 am - 4:30 pm

Hello, my name is Noalie Watson, and I am honored to serve as the Assistant Principal of Garza Independence High School, supporting students with last names N–Z. My journey in education began at Katherine Cook Elementary in Austin, where I dedicated 17 years to teaching before earning my master’s degree in Educational Administration. These experiences have shaped my commitment to educational leadership, where I strive to provide instructional guidance, support teacher development, and foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment. I look forward to partnering with families, staff, and our community to ensure the success of every student.

I am deeply passionate about leadership and education, and I am committed to creating a school culture where students and staff feel seen, heard, and valued. Outside of school, I enjoy reading, listening to inspirational speakers, and connecting with positive, uplifting individuals who strive to make a positive impact in the lives of others. While I have not yet traveled outside of the United States, I aspire to one day explore different parts of the world and learn from diverse cultures. My guiding philosophy is captured in the words of Mahatma Gandhi: “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”
